Disco SON ignitor?

I have seen similar behavior before with some slow pulsing ignitor on a cycling lamp - At the end of the off period when the lamp is flashing and nearing restrike, it would restrike successfully and burn for a split second and then extinguish again for split second - in a cycle according to ignitor timing

This could have been an ES50 but i think more likely some triac based ignitor (the ES50 is sidac based)
