iwasaki have pulled the plug on mercs in japan

I wonder how many manufactures will still be selling fluorescent tubes in 10 years.

Sadly, other than special application fluorescent (Mainly UV) I doubt any will be.

All well and good if we can dodge the various bans - such as mercury. No good making something that would be classed as illegal. Need a way around the regs as well as the means to actually make the items in the first place...

Put a red sleeve on standard tubes and say they are for a "special application" like those Philips ex M.O.D tubes I have. Then take sleeve off for a normal tube.

In 10 years, I think eventually T8 will go then T5 will be last so we should still be able to get 8w tubes and other T5 tubes for a while yet I hope.

They have just stopped selling them. There's a car park I know that have used them and they were installed recently.
