I have two CSI PAR64 lamps, a used Thorn and nos daylight CID GE version.
Now I really fancy getting a newer standard GE one to play with so I don't do too much damage and wear on the old Thorn lamp but the problem is that they are quite expensive. The cheapest place it seems is to import one from the US but we are still talking about £280 all in including shipping and taxes ect.....
I'm ooooing and aahing because it is a decent chunk of money but they are quite impressive lamps and are only going to get even more harder to come by.
I suppose only I can decided if it is worth it but what do you think?
Mmmmnnnnnggggghhhh!
How much would you pay?

That's an awful lot of money!
In the past I have seen them on UK eBay for a lot less than that and probably should have bought one.
I reckon if you wait a bit, some will turn up at a better price.

Re: How much would you pay?
indeed in this case I would wait and hold fire
they do pop up from time to time on ebay for cheaper or much cheaper
there was a modern GE one for £100 then £75 that I had on my watch list for a good long time before it finally sold
and if you dont mind playing the long game and then they do even pop up for cheaper
(which is what im doing, because I do want one quite badly, so if you find multiple do let me know!)
I would save the £280 on getting something a even more special or ridiculous, something that you dont already have an example of in the collection
like this now sadly sold 24000W Metal halide lamp https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/294423764630
(can you imagine how many ND filters you would need to photograph it close up )

Well I got drunk, made a low offer (which was still a bit high) which was immediately accepted.
I'm a bit annoyed now as I should have took the piss with with a silly low offer lol.
Oh well
