Misted up SON

Anything to do with discharge lamps mercury, SON, SOX etc and their control gear! Do you just need information on how to run a lamp correctly? Post it here!

Misted up SON

Hi guys i got a near EOL 70w SON -T from work the other day and it seems to be misted on the outside of the lamp, i'v wiped the lamp but the strange mist always comes back does anyone know what this is?

Probably getting exposed to a vapour or smoke of some sort.

Its a strange one, it was already like that when i got it but wiped off, you cant see it when it lit but when its been off for a while and its cooled down it shows again.

Strange question, but what does the lantern its in smell like, inside the lamp cavity, it could provide clues

Smells normal to me mate but my nose isn't the best.

So it only does it IN the lantern, what if you run it in free air?
