Re: Heritage Street Light Lanterns Stolen
How on earth do somebody ‘steal’ one of these??
The sheer weight of one for a start would be difficult to remove without a cherry picker!, this and the 60 years of rusty grub screws suggests this is somebody that knows what they were doing?

I'd guess either an insode job from someone on the streetlighting team, or someone has hired a cherry picker, donned a high-viz and looked official enough that no-one noticed

I wonder what these run now, certainly not their original 5ft 80W BC tubes. They look a bit odd with just the light from the top of the tube.

Some awful LED bodge from the looks of the pictures. They could at least have fitted them with 5' LED tubes. Wouldn't look so ridiculous then

With the amount of CCTV about these days I highly doubt that these have just gone missing without a trace...

Re: Heritage Street Light Lanterns Stolen
Certainly seems odd. I mean, looking at the sheer size of these, it's not like someone just popped a ladder up against it and lifted it off is it. I'm gonna guess these probably weigh a lot. Has to have been done with a cherry picker and probably a couple of strong guys.
Maybe the council removed them for restoration then lost / broke them and this seemed a good way to pass the blame?

Wouldn't put it past the council... they want rid of them so they can fit trendy new LED fittings but can't without facing backlash so they have "gone missing"
