Does anyone know if an MBIF lamp is the same as an MBF/U lamp, and if not, what is the difference including colour temp etc...

MBIF is a coated QMH lamp. MBF-U is a phosphored high pressure MV lamp with universal burning position.

Many thanks for the reply - so I presume that QMH has a different colour temp to MBF?MBIF is a coated QMH lamp. MBF-U is a phosphored high pressure MV lamp with universal burning position.

Here’s a standard mercury lamp (MBF), and a GE (MBIF), running together so you can see the colour difference
, the MBIF is the top one.
