CDO TT on Cosmo Ballasts

Postby Mrstreetlight » Sun Apr 05, 2026 2:00 pm

A friend in street lighting was telling me his boss won't buy cosmo lamps anymore since they cost him £90 a lamp, he rather convert the lamp holders to E27 / E40 and use CDO TT on the original cosmo ballast.

I wonder how long these CDO TT lamps will last on Cosmo gear and if anyone has seen this done anywhere else?

Sorry, HOW MUCH for a Cosmo lamp... That's insane. Still, I spose it's all part of the drive to push you towards LED.

It will work, as in they will light up but nor the ballast or lamp will be happy!

It is ironic though how CDO is still cheaper on the other hand.

I checked online and the average of CPO is between £70 to £90, only ebay is cheaper which most contractors probably won't buy from.

Cosmo has really had a short life.

I heard about this as well lol.

I want to try test a truehalo on CDO gear to see if it fairs instead

The only good thing you can say about cosmo is that the lifespan is phenomenal, I put some secondhand Evolos up in 2017 with used lamps from Davy and stoner and almost 10 years on no failures they are on part night also at home never had one fail
