Wilkinsons LED roll out scheme!

As some of you may know the company I work for look after wilkinsons stores, the Falmouth branch near me was only opened 4 years ago and completely fitted with Philips 2X54W T5 mods and complete T5 out the back....well last night I had a call out to water coming in on one of the lights, to my shock every single light in the place has been changed to LED, I mean there is not a single FL left in the place! Cupboards stores even the emergency lights out the back! Absolutely INSANE, I expressed my anger to the store manager who said we didn't even know it was happening, it's a complete waste the stairwells in particular had some very stylish sleek Philips 35W T5 fittings in all replaced for thorn PPLED's in fact it looks like everything has gone from Philips FL to Thorn LED!
I was absolutely shocked by the waste! But to even target N/M emergency lights?????
This will be happening to a wilkinsons near you as this scheme is nation wide!

Its already gone LED here in Wilkinsons, but in the form of 600 x 600 LED mods!

I cant speak for the trade but for retail there is now only one option - LED. I call it lighting dictatorship, take away any choice and all the public are now offered is LED so that's what they will buy, in B&Q and Wickes the only lighting choice is LED - I suspect the trade is the same - I assume then if there is a refit then all they will refit it with is LED.

A nagging in the depths of my memory recalls a quote from Obama a few years of after the Inky ban came into force, "LED has matured enough there should be no need for Incandescent". Yeah your so fucking qualified to say that!

It's the last option I give any of my commercial customers and I'll only fit it if there's either nothing else left that will do the job or they insist on it. I'm more than happy to light warehouses / factories / offices etc with discharge or fluorescent. Once I've explained why I'd go this route rather than LED, most companies agree and go with my option which is nice

Just thought. I wonder if also there is the customer opinion factor too. The Super white bright LED will give the impression of a modem efficient company as Flouro is seen as old fashoned?
