Dual 85/125W 8' tubes
Does anyone remember the appearance of these in the 80s I think, made by Thorn EMI? These were the first lamps I ever saw that went mercury starved and glowed a useless dim purple with no activation of the phosphor. I saw loads go that way. They weren't around for long and I haven't seen one in decades. Did they have a design fault?

I've got one in "plus white" I heard the life on them is meant to be poor compared to single wattage tubes

Danny that has to be a rarity, in Plus White as well. I never got to see a Plus White tube or compare its colour with normal White.

I've got a white Thorn EMI one in the loft light, when I turn it off the ends glow for a second or so, it's running at 125W.
