I don`t know how many of you do this, but when you build home made HID fittings, (as mine are), I always do a check on them each year.
Checking my garden SON this afternoon, I find the wires to the lamp holder in the corner one, (with a Philips Master plus in), have gone a little hard with the heat, even though it has all steam iron wire in it to withstand the heat, its still a confined space, with a hot running lamp in.
No cracks in said wire have appeared yet though, and as long as its not `moved about` it will be ok for now.
The one on the side fence, (with a GE Lucalox in), is all fine, due to a different set up internally.

Lol as I have lots of different lighting on my farm some of it pretty high and I have lots to do I don't always get a chance to inspect it all. Really I should do an emergency light test of some of the 30+ emergency lights I have dotted around lol.
I may have to do an asset list of them soon and regularly start testing
