The safe way to dispose of fluorescent lamps?

Put anything here that's badly designed/made, failed, catastrophically exploded or just an epic fail in a general sort of way.

The safe way to dispose of fluorescent lamps?

Postby fluorescent » Tue Jun 05, 2018 11:43 am

This is a safe way to dispose of fluorescent tubes apparently, by smashing them into smithereens in a modified wheeled bin. Doesn't look particularly safe or environmentally friendly to me. Thoughts?

Looks like a homegrown cowboy setup to me. I shouldn't think it's very efficient at extracting the mercury for recycling.

Er, yea.... ....Right :o

Not sure that catches anything other than the glass, expect you get a nice dose of mercury when you empty it.

This might be some old device, back from the days when the biggest concern was the Glass.. Nevermind, it is becoming relevant again with all the LED tubes around
