What are they?
T5's in a sodium lamp-like thermal casing?
CC lamps?

Look like t5 fluorescent tube, tube adapters! Bit like LED tubes but have T5 inside
Totally pointless and a waste of time replacing your t8 for obe of these. Who the fuck makes this shit up

They don't appear to be LED retrofits.
Seem to be t5's wrapped up in a T8 tube and a load of marketing wank!
Made by Hyperion lighting.
Seemed to pop us a "breakthrough in lighting technology" got loads of public subsidies for companies to put their tubes in and they disappeared under the rug in 2011.

Re: What on earth are these things?
It says 24W on the tubes themselves. That's worth it then.

Re: What on earth are these things?
So much wrong/BS in the description.
And the product itself? We've used thousands of T5 adaptors at work, not exactly the same as these though, ours have a built in reflector & a thin spine where the electronics are housed. Very hit-and-miss in terms of quality, some have lasted 6+ years of 24/7, some only lasted a few weeks. They have very, very cheap and nasty electronic circuitry in them which are only designed to last the life of the tube, we were told to treat them like a CFL, i.e. if the tube fails, replace the complete adaptor rather than just the lamp.

Re: What on earth are these things?
They are T12 to T5 Fluorescent Tube, I have 4 x Eton Lighting T12 to T5 Fluorescent Tubes they are designed for reducing the wattage from 20 watts to 14 watts, the tube is designed to retrofit on existing switch start Fitting by simply swapping the old T12 Tube and removing the Starter Switch, to gain benefits of saving 6 watts per tube and extending the lamp life from 8000 hours to 24000 Hours as well as increased Colour Rendering from CRI-56 to CRI-90 and Light output from 1050 Lumens to 1240 Lumens. see photo attached.
