If so what are they like?
They seem to be High output broad spectrum lights for studios.
What they like for lighting normal areas?

They look like beasts. 800mA. I bet two would go in series on our mains but which choke to use?

Thanks, very interesting. 2' 40W seems to be standard and the current is the same as for the shorter 30W tubes. Reading through the catalogue I clocked the remote electronic ballasts they use and was shocked to read that most of them are not power factor corrected and is the reason for higher than expected Neutral current. That's bad when you consider how many of those thing's they'd use in a production.

they do make 2Ft 40 watt T12 too. that would
be your modern source for 2 foot 40 watt tubes.

I also have use some for 8 foot pop pack
as there 8 footer is rated at 120 watts
i would recommend K55 colour 5500K
tube.

Interesting. Have grabbed one from that listing out of curiousity.

Remember coming across their stuff before, but the prices were sufficiently eye wateringly high that I never grabbed anything.

From memory 800mA wouldn't be a million miles off a 2' 40W choke would it?

I'll get in touch with the seller and see if we can get the HO one sent out as well - it's an interesting oddity for the collection anyhow and I'll be curious to see it lit, so not after a refund or anything!

Note they seem to have red ones listed too...

How do you do these calculations with tubes or do you just have to go off of detailed spec data that comes with a rare handful?
I've been trying to find a perfect fit for my 14W T12's and it's been to little avail.

Remembering what I've read in datasheets, Lamptech - and when I can find it - the cheat sheet I have with the ratings of most common fluorescent wattages.

When I lit the last one I ran I just used a 15W CFL ballast. The overall system power was "about right" so I deemed it close enough for testing purposes. I wasn't able to accurately measure the lamp current as the HF drive waveform played havoc with my DMM.

Sadly didn't have time to get this lit today, really curious to see what sort of colour we're looking at.
