Just witnessed an old installation of GEC Z8600’s coming on at dust and quite a lot of them started of with the lamps flashing on and off like a strobe for a while, long enough for the lamp to change colour from white to yellow anyway!
Not seen that before?

Re: Disco SON ignitor?
I've seen that with SOX in the past. I put it down to faulty photo cells with zero hysteresis, so they oscillate on and off at the threshold. It never happened in the 'good old days'.

Re: Disco SON ignitor?
If a load of them are doing it, my guess would be voltage drop?, the exact same thing happened with the SON around the Trafford Centre, but this was EVERY light, surly every cell can’t be faulty at the same time?

Re: Disco SON ignitor?
It was quite a few but not all, and seemed to stop when either the lamp warmed up or it got darker so the cell stoped switching...

Re: Disco SON ignitor?
Could be either something to do with the voltage or it could be the ignitors. I've come across a few ignitors that makes the lamps flash some stopped after a white and some stop working altogether until it was re powered.

I've seen this with a Z8600 too.
I've also seen a SON-I do it, though that failed to light the following night
