Can you recycle EOL incandescents/halogen lamps?

Got a box of EOL lamps that I want to chuck away but not in the black bin

Always see plenty of them in the lamp bin, but they're not actually on the list of things they'll officially accept. Can't put them in household recycling, so I'd say in short, the answer is no.

Oh pity that they don't add them to the recycle list. Glass and metal are precious resources for landfill!!!!

Even they don't contain mercury and other materials unsuitable for landfill, they should be recycled!!!

Agreed, recyclable materials in them for sure. Just don't put them in household recycling tho (unless your council lists them) as some glass (such as Pyrex / drinking glasses, etc) is unsuitable as it has a higher melting temperature than that used in bottles and can end up with the whole load being dumped.

That's a good point that as I was thinking of just the outer envelope of a GLS but the halogen capsules (and reflectors of MR lamps?) are made from quartz!
