Additionally, i would like to see what is up with Coughtrie and AC Ford. They appear to be making shells suitable for a variety of discharge sources (even if not much of the size for SOX). Especially AC Ford i think would like to see somebody contact them

I understand you are in contact with people inside Fitzy Kev ? What about Coughtrie and AC Ford ?

I'm reading this and i'm thinking yes, SOX as a marketable item is almost at the grave. However with very minor modifications, ie replacing the SOX electrodes with neon sign electrodes to extend life and having the tubes filled with different gases such as Xenon to make decorative tubes, similar to what I am making, also alongside the ballast factory to create specialized transformers for them, could actually mass produce them as a valuable product.

What you think would that be used for in "compact" form factors ?

I'd say standard compact fluorescent drivers. A step up transformer can be put on the output of one even (it does work I've tested it).

I meant to ask for what applications would the lamp be used

Maybe interior decoration, people would buy something unique like that.

That is one application for which i'd intend an actual SOX (self ballasted or in its Fluorescent-retrofit-SLI form)

As it's primarily not the lamp that's an object of interest, but it is of sufficient output to be the main light source in a place, making the place as whole the area of interest
