I reckon that is exactly what happened. I have now tracked down a little bit of history and these lamps originally came from a theatre designer that obtained them via a stock clearance. He can't remember where exactly but they've almost certainly come through the hands of the company you posted the link for. Very interesting. I will call the manufacturer tomorrow and have a word
