As I have said many times before, Thorn died years ago in the '90s when GE go their dirty mitts on them. It's been nothing more than a name ever since. No relevance to the British Lighting Industries company.

Best we could do is stock up the equipment to make the things
Luminaires are in the list of interest too, but they are the least complicated part there : You could order empty enclosures and fit whatever you want inside
Wasting big money on ebay or complaining about how things disappear without doing anything to preserve the manufacturing end of things, are both the least constructive things we could do about it
Seriously, so much of it is going for scrap metal cost, we could actually afford to have it

Fact is, there used to be a first generation who learnt how to operate that machine from scratch (for who missed, we are about the SOX lamp sealing machine at Philips). If they could, there is no reason why nobody else could
Have a look at a country, that as a rule dont share your mindset. Nobody told them they can't. They rig whatever they please in their workshop, and experiment with it, untill it works. They may know less than we do about something before they already attempt to make it. The quality isn't always great, but saying that they can't do something is a lie. Now please explain, why in China it is possible yet in the UK it isn't
