another thought is places where an LED lamp by nature will not work like a lava/glitter lamp or an oven.
I doubt an LED lamp will work after being baked @ 200C for an hour and a lava lamp just won't work at all.

Oven lamps normally get the exceptions in such bans, but it is of limited use - Would an oven lamp (with 200 lm output or so) be suitable for a motion detector security light ? Would it even fit in the security light made for R7s halogens ?...

Who was it on here that said “leaving the EU won’t make the slightest bit of difference on lamp bans”?
I think that was pretty accurate!, think it was Mark?

Well it hasn't done anything for lights or that vacuum cleaner motor wattage limit either.

Oven lamps and Microwave lamps are E14 and you can easily get adapters if you want. Some Microwave incandescents are quite bright like the one in our Microwave.Oven lamps normally get the exceptions in such bans, but it is of limited use - Would an oven lamp (with 200 lm output or so) be suitable for a motion detector security light ? I recall commenting something along those lines. Given we were adopting all existing EU legislation and then reviewing any further new legislation they came up with, it was inevitable.Who was it on here that said “leaving the EU won’t make the slightest bit of difference on lamp bans”?

Also, if the rest of the world moves in that direction, no-one will carry on making older lamps just for us and we no longer have the manufacturing capabilities ourselves.

If not for vast in-house "activism" within the UK, the UK could tell the EU straight to go fuck themselves and nobody in the EU would be able to do anything about it

So, reading into something I found the other day (on the governments own website) the following are EXEMPT from the upcoming lamp bans:
Halogen:
ALL theatre / TV / film production lamps
ALL J-type linear halogen lamps
Fluorescent:
T5 linear lamps (tho I'm unsure if this includes HO as well as HE)
However, that's as much info as it contains, so still unsure if this will affect stuff like lamps used in ovens or vehicles for example, or if it includes the likes of 2D, PL-S/C/T/L, etc. Until they actually publish the legislation in full (which they were supposed to do last month) we won't really know any more than that.

No way can they ban car lamps, absolutely would not make sense seeing as millions of cars still use them.
Why would T5 linear be ok but not 2D seeing as they're basically the same?
