The safe way to dispose of fluorescent lamps?

This is a safe way to dispose of fluorescent tubes apparently, by smashing them into smithereens in a modified wheeled bin. Doesn't look particularly safe or environmentally friendly to me. Thoughts?

Looks like a homegrown cowboy setup to me. I shouldn't think it's very efficient at extracting the mercury for recycling.

Er, yea.... ....Right
Not sure that catches anything other than the glass, expect you get a nice dose of mercury when you empty it.

This might be some old device, back from the days when the biggest concern was the Glass.. Nevermind, it is becoming relevant again with all the LED tubes around
