Helping local users have replacement lamps

Postby Ash » Sun Feb 03, 2019 6:20 pm

A thought :

Some users go shopping for a lamp of specific type (HID of specific wattage, etc) for relamping a luminaire they have, come to a wholesaler who used to stock such lamps, and get answer that they can't get the lamp

I seen it happen here. After some investigation the problem is often this : The wholesaler does not want to keep a big stock of the lamp since it is a low demand item. The supplier who sells to the wholesaler only ever sells complete boxes. The wholesaler then doesn't want to sell one lamp and get left with a box of X-1, which to his thinking will be stuck on the shelf for years

So here is a thought : Few of us buy full boxes of lamps frequently for "stock for jobs", and possibly are in good relations with some wholesaler or two and visit their shop often

Let's offer them a service :

- If we buy a box of lamps for "stock for jobs", split the box with the wholesaler and let him buy a lamp or two from the lot, to have only that in stock

- If the wholesaler have a customer that needs a lamp, let the wholesaler buy single lamps back from us to sell to those customers

This might help some of their customers maintain their FL or HID installations by themselves with very little effort from our side
