Tungsram - We're Back!

Postby Slyspark » Mon Jun 10, 2019 3:34 pm

Just been watching stuff on youtube and the customary ad that played before what I actually wanted to watch was for Tungsram Lighting. 1 min long ad, basically saying 'we're back'. Anyone else seen this?

Sadly, a visit to their youtube page seems to pretty much just showcase LED.

I'd bet money they'll only produce LED and some of it may not even be their own, just rebadged stuff.

Also YouTube adverts, lol. Use Adblock on PC and YouTube Vanced app on Android.

Tungsram, complete with the old style logo is the new branding for LightTech, which is part of GE. They've been using it on their LED drivers for a while now.

Indeed, eventually the GE branding will be phased out - at least in Europe. GE have yet to sell their American lamps business however, so at least over there, the name will be around for a little while.

Tungsram is not so advanced in LED fixtures, but very strong in conventional lamps and seems to be only getting better since its separation from GE. There is a good commitment to keeping its Hungarian plants open as long as possible. I am particularly pleased to see that the Tungsram LED filament lamps on sale in Tesco over here are now made in Hungary, I suppose that makes them the first to transfer production of LED filament from China to EU.
