Crap like this shouldn't be sold. The label on the ballasts says "ballsat".

eBay and trading standards won't be able to do anything.

I've got one of these somewhere, I acquired it ages ago still with a lamp attached lol, I guess whoever chucked it in the lamp bin didn't realise the lamp was separate. I'll have to dig it out sometime and have a closer look at it.

Adam is correct, since the item isn't located within the UK, it's not breaking any laws here. If you purchased one however, in theory Customs & Trading Standards could in theory seize it on entry into the UK, but the reality is, it'll probably get through as they can't check the contents of every package. Really, it comes down to common sense of whoever is ordering it to realise it's probably not compliant with any safety standards here and to avoid ordering it in the first place. The fact it's only got writing on it in Chinese should be warning enough....

One review says it's excellent. :)
The other says it's 'The wrong size for the UK'

Reminds much of the very thin (more than 1 Ohm end to end !) computer power cables, where the print along the cable says "PVC insulated coper wire and cable". Nevermind conductor cross sections, cable type, standards or any of that BS

I tend to treat 'reviews' with a pinch of salt these days, you never know who has written them or what their motives are.

Who wrote them : Everyone who bought the item, powered it on and it worked okay for them on the 1st run. Which even the crappiest devices will 99% of the time. None of them waited to see how long it lasts etc, and i dont think Ebay allows to leave feedback after more than some limited time from the purchase at all
