Ok, so, whats the OLDEST fitting you have that's still in regular use? Be it a streetlight lantern lighting your garden or an old fluorescent in the garage, whats the oldest thing you still run?

At the moment, mine is a Thorn explosion-proof 2x 2' 40w T12 fitting wih quickstart transformer which provides light in my office and a 4' Atlas Superslim that has just been installed in my lamp stores

My oldest in use is my 1956 circular, then my 1968 atlas Atlantic 3 then my 1973 thorn Atlantic 4 also my Ekco BC fitting but I'm not sure when that dates to I think it might be 1960s

The Atlantic 4 is seen here in my kitchen however that was moved to the hallway by the back door around October time of last year. The Atlantic 3 is in my kitchen still and the circular is still in my sitting room. I have no future plans to move the Atlantic 3 or the circular however due to a lamp experiment I'll be starting soon, the Atlantic 4 may be getting swapped for one of the quick start atlantics that I rescued from ever ready as I will need the 4 for the experiment

I've always wanted one of those twin explosion proof fittings! They turn up on ebay from time to time but for silly money!

These 1960s 5ft 80w Atlas Superslims have been in use in my workshop for a couple of years now and do a sterling job of lighting on my workbench and the rest of the area. This is them following installation in my workshop before it was fitted out.




Also, though not a light fitting, this Art Deco glass light shade was on the landing when we moved in and is probably as old or not much newer than the house that was built in 1928. We've kept it on the landing for this reason and its still in use to this day. It's quite a nice design. It still had the twisted braided rubber flex, ceramic rose and brown Bakelite lamp holder until 1988.

Mines an 1967/68 atlas 4' grey sided PP, not in my house although it does a good job lighting one of the rooms at Nan's

My GEC Z8831, running a 50watt MBF as my front light , it has a date of 1981 embossed into the GRP, but its unclear whether its the manufacture date or a design date of that model??

I have a AS50 in nightly use!

Hard to call - I have plenty of Inkys around the house but I'm not sure that counts so I'm going to have to go with my Bright Ideas from the 70s, 2 x 20 watt in the attic room.

Hard to call here as well. I'd say its a toss up between a Coughtrie SW10 alleged to be from 1952, or the revo/GEC Wellglasses, though i cant be sure of age. They appear to be cast iron which usually means they date to pre-war years, so 1930's or 40's, though I cant be sure for definite.

Going to have to update this, mine is now an Atlas 4' 40w Superslim, complete with acrylic trough refelector. Pix somewhere in the gallery as I have no idea how you include them in forum posts
