Fitting Conversion to LED

Postby Slyspark » Thu Mar 03, 2016 9:40 pm

Ok, so tonights little job....

I have a pile of new Thorn Pop-Packs here (single 5' HF) which I have to gut, rewire without control gear and then fit LED lamps in for a customer who requires them to match the other LED fittings in their warehouse. They insist on LED, so no choice there. So, the question is, which is worse? Chinese Tridonic HF gear or a Chinese LED tube? I bet both are just about as shit as eachother, which I wonder tho would fail first?

I love jobs like this, gutting one pile of crap and turning it into another one..... Fail-fail?

The China tridonic ballasts are actually SO FAR pretty good weirdly they haven't been out that long only 3 years but so far I've only had one fail from new! :? So I never thought I'd hear myself say it but the China tridonics are actually better I'd say!

And have you noticed the great SS ripoff now, they have sky rocketed the price of SS battens here, (as they did with SOX and 8 foots), to try and stop people installing them!
When in reality, they KNOW people still prefer SS over HF for reliability!, just another EU money making scam.

I wasn't when I got the call earlier. My response - well, I did say you should go fluorescent!

Even HF fluorescent would have lasted longer. Make sure to charge them extra callout fee for ignoring expert advice :)

Just convert that one back to fluorescent and watch it be the last light standing!
