Thorlux Prismalux 50W MBFU

Anything to do with discharge lamps mercury, SON, SOX etc and their control gear! Do you just need information on how to run a lamp correctly? Post it here!

Thorlux Prismalux 50W MBFU

Im currently working on a site that is about to be removing a handful of Thorlux Prismalux 50W MBFU Bulkheads, Im guessing late 70s early 80s, they are built like tanks and are the old type with a glass diffuser, they are mounted internally in a very seldom used area, and I took one apart the other day ,it had a large black ballast with what looked like an original Crompton lamp, in the location they are in they would have had very little use . are they worth a keep ?

Id say they are worth keeping for definite. Mercury bulkheads are just the best!

Definitely :D , its mercury, proper fittings for mercury lamps too!, theres not a lot of `usable` bulkheads you can put a 50watt MBF in, without the lamp melting them!

Yes they should definitely be saved!

I'll happily trade a few 4ft T12 tubes for one if you want them. I seem to remember you were after some at one point.

Morning Andy, whilst your here, you need to put your photo of your 40watt Iwasaki MB up, (the snow one in your back garden), it gave me a modding idea the other day, which I have now carried out :D
