Powering up Pripyat after 30+ years.

Not sure if this has been posted before but might as well share this again.
Group of people have ventured into the Zone of alienation around the old Chernobyl NPP with a portable generator and have wired up some buildings to see if the lights work!

Quite neat tbh!

Seen a few of these before. One group even tried to get the ferris wheel turning too!

That would take quite a bit of WD40 lol :D
I love the shots of the street lamps going outside... really surreal!

Kreosan (Креосан) had quite a go at things there, they also restored one flat in one of the buildings (twice, as it was trashed between their visits). IIRC they pulled a HV line from some guard post that had 230V power, using MOTs to step the voltage up and then back down

(It would make sense if they would remove the shunts from the MOTs to reduce their leakage, but i dont have any recalls of anything like that mentioned - So maybe they used the mots as is and get the voltage drop they get)
