Been trying to get hold of some lighting capacitors recently to replace failed items. All you seem to be able to find these days is stuff like RBR capacitors (Spain) and to be honest, they're crap. So, thought I'd try and find out where Cambridge Capacitors were. Found an address on Google, but no website and when I looked on streetview, all I can find is a boarded up building, so, thought I'd dig a bit further and found this:

Seems they've gone bust and some time ago too :(

I'm not surprised really. Cambridge Capacitors were shit. I've never ever tested one that has come out of a fitting that was even remotely near it's rated value (we are talking nf instead of uf!!!). If I have a used fitting with a Cambridge capacitors PFC in it, I change it as a matter of course because it will almost certainly be fcuked!

I phoned them up once about 7.2 440v capacitors for 8's they said they hadn't made them for quite some time.
Still a shame that they have gone to the wall. I blame thorn and all their HF bollocks!

Motor run caps are 450v so might be worth checking those out for the 8 foots.
