Undoing seized nuts and bolts

The pole is removed! My Dad took it to his work and the technician drilled out more of the grub screws and used a centre punch to hammer the pole out from the back.

Haven't been on here for a few days but all excellent comments. Re the hardening of metal, generally I've found it's not too bad if the metal is allowed to cool down gradually, but quenching it or fadt cooling tends to harden steel - great for resharpening drill bits but not good for when you don't want something hard and brittle.
