Shared a coffee with the guys replacing fluros in the mods and we got onto the subject of maintainance. When I asked why they werent replacing starters at the same time as fitting the pair of tubes. Answer, its not blinking!

at least he was fitting proper tubes!!!

Yeah, this annoys me!, when Ken or Sean change a tube at work, they only do the tube, and you can pretty much guess, a few months later the old starter fries the new tube!
On page 45, of the `GE Lighting Buyers Guide`, (fluorescent lighting), GE recommend that the starter is changed on EVERY tube replacement.

At home I tend to leave the starter till it goes but never give it time fry the tube. But yeah if I ever do it for someone else the starter get renewed with the tube.

The last relamp i did i just did the tubes unless the starter had gone, tbf in the office they know to twist the tube when they go eol

Series mods are very forgiving I look after one shop almost all the starters are original Fitzgerald branded S2s from 1998
