Yup, that's what I'd have done - if you MUST LED, then simply fit LED tubes in the old fittings. Those nice old GRP based fittings will outlast that JCC garbage.

Indeed, it looks like someone did a quality job about 20 years ago when they fitted that lot, new colours so can't be much older than that anyway.
Looking at the condition of the French Philips TL-D's and the lack of yellowing on the covers they look to have done very little hours. Must have been nice and bright with all those twin 58's in there too!

Yeah I seem to remember something like that too. Sadly it's not just JCC now either, most manufacturers are selling the same cheapo weatherpacks like those, which are all just horrible really!

I would have gone with simple BC batten holders, and shop bought SMT lamps from Morrison’s or Home Bargains or the likes!, a lot cheaper and probably more reliable!

Those JCC fittings and similar sum up everything I hate about lighting nowadays tbh A couple of new ballasts and those fittings would have been fine though replacing control gear and cross referencing the wiring between different ballasts seems to have become a lost skill now

@AngryHorse, yeah they likely would be more reliable and easily replaceable when they do fail!
