That’s cool some old boy probably spend ages on that the battery box looks like a bit of 4X4 trunking cut up probably housing a NP12-4 battery this should be kept.

I recognize the type of the cover that's on the gear box. It is made of bits of some posh cable raceway (with the screws with locking bits on the inside), which i think is made in Germany, possibly by Siemens or some company that works with Siemens equipment
(VS used them in some of their equipment in the 90s. The other "common industrial hardware" bits there were mostly from Siemens)
