Right bit of a strange one here, we have had 3 lanterns turning up at our yard over the last few weeks that's had ignitor fires, the lamps in all the lanterns are Venture! The lamps in two of the lanterns had the arc tubes disconnected from the sport frame in side the lamp and the last one was ok. I know this may be just a coincidence but none of the other street lights fitted with Philips, GE & Sylvania have set on fire, so its either there is something seriously wrong with Venture SON or it could just be a coincidence? Maybe James could have the answer to this?
The lanterns were -
ZX3 Deep bowl 250w Parmar ignitor
ZX3 flat glass 250w Parmar ignitor
ZX2 150w Deep bowl Tridonic ignitor.

I was thinking about this earlier too strangely enough. I wonder if the arc voltage in the ventures is higher than the rest causing them not to strike like the one in your piazza which makes the ignitors squeal & overheat?

Not shore Dan but it always starts on the (D) ballast input into the ignitor.

I`d say it was more the fault of Parmars gear, we had low bays running German Osram HQIs at my old job, and a few of them set on fire!, all were geared with Parmer 400watt MB ballasts and Parmar ignitors?
