No

They have no advantage. The company doing the PFI in my town (99% LED now) had to cheat in order to even show (in their reports) that the conversion was beneficial. They measured light levels under nonworking old lanterns and in the glare spots of te new installation, yet counted the power consumption of the old installation as if it was all intact (in reality 1/2 were out or cycling). They lied about the wattages (said 250W SON where it was really 150W SON, said 30W LED where it is 80W LED). In the nights when the power company were taking their control readings of the meters (lighting here is on meters, typically a quarter with all its reoads and footpaths on a meter & switched by a single photocell), they would switch off all footpath lighting altogether, leaving only the roads lit. They trimmed many trees along with the conversion, measuring the SON before and LED after. The reports show improved lighting, where in reality it is quite the opposite

Now, after the energy savings goal was reached and demonstrated, 100W LED floodlights started popping up on numerous spots, to cover the dark areas that appeared when the old 150W SON lantern, covering the area, was replaced with a LED

I`m one of the 2, but I would have guessed that was obvious as all 4 of my outside lights are now LED!
