Simpson Road, humpback bridge 1970s
|
Another classic shot which has helped me understand how this part of Simpson Road was lit.
We see here more fluorescent lanterns on 6m concrete columns, twin in the early 1970s. It would appear during the late 1970s these columns by the humpback bridge and grand union canal were replaced for steel columns possibly supporting Merc Eleco HW918s. Since the columns have 70s bracket arms, and some supported / still support Davis GR501s and one GR551
There has been a strange mix down this road since the steel columns went in, with a Philips XGS104, GEC Z9538 (which lights the humpback bridge) and even a Philips MI80GO which I did save in early 2019 along with a Davis GR501 & the GR551.
