Lamp bin finds - 17/01/21 - One of the best hauls yet!
|
Due to the dreaded lockdown, I had not visited some of my local lamp recycling bins for a couple of months, as I had assumed they wouldn't be filling up so much anymore. Well, turns out I was wrong, and when I got to bin 1 of 2 and lifted the lid I couldn't believe my eyes... In amongst the usual broken Chinese fluorescent trash, I could see several coloured, brass base, and decorative candle lamps! Turns out someone had dumped a load of GLS from the 50s - 80s! Many of the bases are corroded and lamps were filthy (cleaned for the photo), but all worked except the blue pygmy lamp I have marked on the photo. Bin 2 of 2 turned up lots of 3 pin mercury lamps, as well as SOX lamps (albeit all of them looked EOL). I think the local council uses that bin. Anyway, from bin 1:

60w Crompton R80 reflector (1980s)
100w Philips pearl GLS (1980s)
