Very old GLS emergency light still in service
Seeing something like this nowadays is very rare, especially still powered on like this (note the faint red glow of the indicator LED)! A very ramshackle shop I was in today had about 3 of these. Most such fittings seen in the wild are usually long-disconnected. I can't imagine these would light in a power failure, the batteries probably died decades ago...

I remember seeing one of those or something very similar in operation in the 70s during a power cut in Tesco. I think it was 1977 or 1978, I was would only have been around 4 at the time. They also had what would have been (for the late 70s) very fancy electronic cash registers that wouldn't work due to the power cut.
