Nine days after first acquiring this lantern, it's restoration was finally completed. Its now a far cry from the state it was in before. My sincere thanks go to the guys at Speller Metcalfe for taking the time to remove this intact from the wall it had presided on intact for around 50-60 years.
I would've completed this a bit quicker if two of the uprights hadn't snapped as i was carefully bending them back into place. The nearest top one snapped due to a bad screw, as they're actually hollow bolts to allow the wire to pass through them. A bit of epoxy metal glue later, this was sorted. The bottom one however, would require a metal sleeve made out of some water pipe. I cut it to size and filled it full of even more glue, which sets like rock when dry. Thankfully the fix dried nicely, and now has added strength back to the lantern.
