4X6w JSB ex emergency conversion, gear tray.
The gear for the bulkhead ended up being two Magnatek ballasts, a small blessing in disguise seeing as the factory pressed screw positions were the exact correct size to allow me to fit the ballasts without drilling additional holes. The only holes I've had to drill were for the lamp holder brackets and for the terminal block. Since all the starters are on the brackets, it makes this tray look empty, meaning the wiring job looks all the more tidier. Amazingly the ballasts don't actually get that warm, so at least the paint won't end up bubbling up and getting ruined by heat as it has in some of my other conversions sadly.

Good chunky ballasts, no risk of overheating Cool

You can't actually see it in this pic, but both ballasts have a spacer between them and the tray itself, meaning they're completely isolated from contact with any other surface thus have 360 degree cooling. The fitting as whole runs very cool as a result

I would have thought using the gear tray as a heatsink would be advantageous tbh.
