Nice one, way older than 2015 so 1995 is correct. I've got a 15W version from the same year as this, also these seem to be from before they added the "longlife" bit to them with the increased rated service life.

Thanks, Beta 5 Smile great to hear that you got a 15W version of this one - this looks to be the very first produced electronic ballasted CFL (or DULUX EL) from OSRAM as the advertisement "electronic comfort light" tells us that possibility Very Happy - all my other Dulux EL are the Longlife and Economy labelled Smile

No problem Smile I think the Dulux EL has actually been around since the late 80's and has been refined over the years gradually being made more compact. The early ones used this same size ballast base for only a little 7W tube Smile

Oh yes that makes sense Smile they were probs more expensive in the late 80s compared to the magnetic ballasted SL CFLS. I got a WOTAN Dulux EL which is the longer than usual 20W type Cool

We bought one of the first 20W electronic CFLs in the late 80s, made by Wotan. Back then they only had 2-turn tubes instead of this 3-turn, so they were much longer. I seem to recall it cost £20. I repaired it so many times when the smoothing capacitors or starting PTC thermistors failed. I eventually had to chuck it when one of the tube's lead-in wires snapped at the glass pinch during a repair, but it still worked up to that point.

@BC-80: I guess it was either a faulty batch that the one you got or just a 'new technology teething issues' that the first edition can suffer from. Come to think I hope my Wotan 2 turn long CFL is produced at the time when they realised and sorted out the capacitor issues Exclamation Good job on repairing it multiple times until the eventual tube wire snap led it to the bin Smile
