It is a good example of how things could and should have been done in terms of assembly, but this design specifically is extremely glary. With each LED pointed to a specific area, only this one LED is the only point source of light when the luminaire is viewed from the ground from that area. What they should have done is create a cluster of replaceable LEDs in the optical center of an otherwise HID lantern assembly. There were several lanterns from several manufacturers doing just that (some using Philips Fortimo modules) but they all seem to have went out of favor in favor of the inferior flat things. At least one of the reasons (or excuses to blame the design) was the poor reliabillty of the LED modules themselves
