$Thorn Gamma 6 collection. The Gamma 6 collection the most varied of any lantern in the collection by far. Over the 5 (almost 6) years of collecting, I've managed to amass a large variety. Whilst some look the same, each lantern has its differences. From left to right: 12" SOX opal, 20" SON opal gearless 12" SOX clear reeded 20" MBF opal 12" SON clear reeded with refractor ring 20" SOX opal 12" MBF opal. Most of these setups depict a lantern that I saw during my childhood. All that's left to find is the 55W variants (two types) an example with a totally clear cone, and the deep base example, and then this section of the collections complete.$

I'd just finished restoring them all before this photo was taken, they're such easy lanterns to work on.

For the gamma 6 range you're looking at well over 100 different variations. Heres what you had to choose from:
3 base castings - gearless, medium base, and deep base (early type for SOX leak ballasts)
6 canopy types - 12" 55w SOX, 20" 55w SOX, (super early though, only available with deep base examples) 20" wide brim, 12" deep rim, 12" shallow rim, and the later 55w SOX 12" shallow rim (what the now discontinued Basique used)
3 cones - Clear, opal reeded and clear reeded
Lamp type - SOX, SON, MBF/U, GLS, MH
Finally you had the option of a refractor ring or no ring.
So mix and match them and the possibilities are endless.

These wasn't used much around there but they have to be my favorite post top lantern made! Very Happy

To me, these come a very very close second to the Phosco P107.

If I had to choose a post-top lantern that I would love to have on my patio instead of the Gamma 6, I'd probably go with a Thorn Johanna!

Yeah a Johanna would look sweet. Its a lantern I'm looking around for too, I've never seen one in person.

Yea, I saw loads of these in Icaland, also loads of Thorn Precinct fittings too, mostly running mercury
