Decided to fire this old lantern up recently. I always think these wing lanterns look really incomplete without a lamp. This is probably the first time in years the lanterns actually seen a lamp.

good to see you've fitted a large envalope clear in this, these were the correct size lamps to use, mainly 150 watts.

Nice old lantern this! Would look great with a self ballasted clear mercury lamp too.

I'm not entirely sure a clear self ballasted merc would focus correctly, as focusing methods state for wing lanterns that the filament be at the lowest point of the lowest wing, and that an arc tube halfway be at the lowest part of the wing. Its either focused arc tube or filament.
