A Sad Thorn PP 65 - Salvaged For Spares

Here you see a rather sad Thorn PP65 which I pulled out of the skip at work today. As you can see, sadly whichever twat took it down decided to bend it in half! It tested all fine electrically, about 22 ohms across the ballast, no earth leakage & PFC capacitor 5.05uF (5uF rating). Straightened it out and stuck a tube & starter in, what do you know, it works perfectly, ballast is nice & quiet.

Oh well. I've salvaged the ballast, lamps holders & springs, capacitor and starter holder and put the rest back in the skip.

One thing ive never understood is why people bend them up

It's annoying isn't it? I don't know who it is, but there's one guy at work that ALWAYS does it, even though they know I salvage anything decent Mad

It would drive me absolutely crazy. Maybe they are just being cunts and stopping anyone else using them

I bend the really shitty fittings once I've stripped them down for parts, only so I can fit them in my scrap bin tho. If it's half decent, or worthy of restoration, it gets saved anyway. If I don't bend them in half, you can see them over the gate and that then attracts the pikeys.
