Brand new Urbis Altra, underside
Found IN THE SKIP, and subsequently saved, this Urbis Altra actually now gets a chance at life. Originally taking 24w PL-L, it was converted to 36w PL-L because the lamp compartment looked rather wasted, as well as the fact the HF driver was actually broken, falling apart on me as soon as I hinged the gear tray. Its now a switch start lantern, and works very effectively. The optics easily increase the light output, spreading it evenly around the area.

From the underside, its easy to see why the lantern is so good at spreading light, the optics are simple but effective. Light output is actually spread at a cutoff beam, but the PL's low mounting position means light also spreads in a wide angle, making for a very efficient lantern.
