I might eventually try one of the 5' ballasts in this pic with a 5' HO lamp & a 2or3 uf (ballast says 5uf, but with that it gets way too hot)
Not really a big deal since I found a deal on a case of the proper 58w T8's anyway.
A bit slow to fire up the first time (but I was also using it to test some new lamps that I'd got cheap at the ReStore...easier using that than digging out my HO fitting!). After that first time they fired up fine Temperature of the ballast seemed to be ok too (but I also didn't let it run real long)
I've also have a pair of SRS ballasts that'll run a 4' or 5' HO lamp. One of these days I need to build something for those. They will not fire up mounted on a board, deff need a grounded piece of metal below the lamps! I've got a of those pic somewhere, need to find it & post here...
