Universal 2x 40w RS Dimmable

Here's a pretty uncommon thing, a dimmable magnetic rapid-start ballast from 1983

This thing is a big long beast...for comparison above it are 2 magnetic rapid start ballasts: 2xF40 HPF & 2xF40 LPF. as you can see its probably 3 times the size of that crappy little LPF ballast .lol.

By the way this thing works, it kinda seems like there are 3 separate parts inside:
* 1 low-voltage power supply for filaments
* 2 individual ballasts

Cathode heating transformer? Have you had this dimming? This is probably one of the biggest ballasts I've ever see Exclamation

Yep cathode heating transformer built in.
The size is what caught my attention when seeing these in a pile of other ballasts & random electric junk at a thrift store...I knew right away they weren't "normal" ballasts & needed checking out Smile

I was able to find the proper dimmerswitch on eBay so yeah I've had this dimming Cool

works best with older full-mercury tubes.

One of these days I gotta get around to doing a vid for these!
