Cheap no name 175W Clear Mercury Vapour lamp
got this lamp out to test a gear setup before i run up some more valuable lamps on said gear setup

but its also a good opportunity to show that a 150W SON Choke does run a 175W Mercury properly at 1.5 amps :)

Does that actually need an ignitor in the circuit? Not an MH lamp is it?

nah the ignitor was there for an EYE White-SON Im testing Smile its not needed for a mercury lamp (and not recommended because if the lamp does fail to strike and the ignitor kicks in, it can start a discharge in the outer bulb)

this is what some of people in states powering MV off from 150 watts MH pulse start ballast.
