Philips 1000W HPL 57222G/97, Magnesium Arsenate phosphor mercury vapour lamp
with many thanks to LAllenLighting who popped this into the eBay section of the forum. I was able to add this lovely NOS beastie to the collection!

I was very pleased to have been able to nab it, as I have been amassing a collection of 1Kw discharge lamps (primarily mercury ones) and I was lacking a Philips example in the collection, so this was ideal!

and it was also a very old one dating to August 1967, thus equipped with the unique philips only Magnesium Arsenate phosphor, which came before the Yttrium Vanadate phosphor of more modern and current lamps (note how it lacks the -N suffix which is Philips's way of saying it has the later phosphor)

I only have one other lamp of this phosphor type so I was also pleased to get another, and especially in such a large form :)

It’s a lush old lamp. Lovely deep red starting colour.
