early 80s Sylvania F36T8 Black ender from James
|
Figured id post a picture of this tube i got from James a long while back its a very early 36W T8. Sadly as you can tell its EOL (Was given to me like this Im not sure on its history Im sure James would know) although being EOL (And I think a few others got the same tubes from James as well) I have managed to light it non destructively (if i was to brute force light this on say a SRS Ballast it would flare up and lose vacuum) but What I have found is I am able to shunt the bad end out and it will haply light on a 1980s Thorn 40W PLL HF Ballast the Bad end does not get very hot at all I think its rectifying But at HF so i cant see the half wave rectified flicker... (I ran it for several hours like this with no issue it does look dim in the picture but in real life it was normal brightness) so yeah just figured id share that :) some point ill have to get an EOL 40W T12 and see what happens I wonder if i can mercury migrate it like on the US Motorola ballasts (If it is rectifying then it should)
